A catastrophic fire occurred at the busy depot. 100 firemen, 18 tenders from 11 fire stations and a helicopter attended the fire. Part of the structure collapsed and a substantial amount of stock was damaged.
The whole of the 80,000 sq ft depot required complete refurbishment and it was imperative to act quickly to retain customer loyalty and keep losses to a minimum.
BCAL were appointed to project manage the rebuilding and refurbishment work and to act as the Structural Engineers and CDM Co-ordinators.
The project showed what could be achieved with the client, insurers, loss adjusters and building professionals all pulling together with a terrific piece of teamwork to get the building open to the public.
