Providing efficient and well engineered design solutions

Epworth House, London

BCAL are pleased to have been appointed to provide CDM Adviser services to the Principal Designer for this project.

The contract involved the substantial refurbishment and reconstruction of three separate buildings dating from the 1930s, when the art deco corner building was constructed and merged with two adjacent buildings.  The structure comprises a complex reinforced concrete frame along City Road, and two steel frames with clay hollow pot floors along Epworth and Tabernacle Streets.

To provide a new central stair and lift shaft, the rear half of the building was demolished and rebuilt behind a retained facade.  Careful planning was required to ensure the building remained stable throughout.

The finished building will provide 61,774 sq ft of modern office space with a sophisticated industrial aesthetic in this vibrant area.
