BCAL Consulting were pleased to have been chosen to provide CDM services for the Maggie's Oxford Centre.
Maggie's is an innovative charity that provides emotional and practical support and care to anyone with cancer. They strive to ensure that this care is provided in a stimulating and uplifting environment.
Designed to tread lightly in such a sensitive environment, the building was designed as a treehouse, raised above the landscape of the wooded boundary of the Churchill Hospital. It is formed from a series of fragmented planes that fold and wrap into each other.
The structure and cladding have been primarily constructed from timber, supported on solid glulam columns grouped in informal clusters, giving the impression of a thicket of tree trunks.
