The project at Tiffield in the heart of rural Northamptonshire was the pace setter for the Department of Health’s National Programme of Secure Accommodation for Young Offenders.
In recognition of its successful performance on similar, complex design and build projects for the authority, BCAL was appointed at the outset to join the client team to help in the necessary task of translating the clients brief into a built solution.
Research and development into appropriate siting of the building, security, structure, materials and construction methods was undertaken within a short period of time in order to realise the client’s completion requirements.
By providing what was essentially a children’s home with prison like security on time and within budget and to the exacting client brief the team received excellent reports from the Department of Health.
